This version of the Curt Teich courthouse view is part of a third set published by the Curt Teich Co.This card is exacty the same image used for the first version published in 1931 for the Robertson Drug Co., but the back of the card marks it as part of the third series published in the 1950s for Apple's Drugs. The quality of Curt Teich's presswork seems to decline over the period covered by the three versions of its Salem cards. The printing of the 1931 cards is lighter and cleaner than the 1950s set, and the "no publisher" set seems to fall somewhere in between. Notice the dark line at the upper left edge of this card -- it's almost as if the cards were not reproduced from original photographic or half-tone negatives, but the plates for each set were made by rephotographing a printed card from previous edition.
