This card is postmarked from Salem on Feb. 3, 1950 at 5 p.m. and addressed to Mrs. L. G. Hays, Hillsboro, Iowa. The message reads, "Dear Mrs. Hays, I read your letter in Mother's Home Life in the Home Makers Club. I have taken this magazine for two years and like it very much. You are the first to have my birth date, Feb. 8. I will be 54 yrs. old and would like to receive a bithday card from you. I have a daughter and two grandsons, age five and three yrs. Hope you get lots of cards. Mrs. Carl Taylor, 104 W. Homer St., Salem, Indiana."

Mrs. Taylor got her birthday card. This card bears a penciled annotation, "Ans. Sent a braided potholder & B.D. card."

Apparently the card exchange continued. I have another message from Mrs. Taylor to Mrs. Hays, written on a copy of the Baptist Church view in this series and postmarked April 17 at 2:30 p.m.: "Hello:- Will ans. your card received some time ago. I am feeling better, able to be spring housecleaning. It has been real cool here for April, the ground was covered with snow Wednesday morning. The ther[mometer] stood at 28 above. We have six churches here in Salem. Wanted to send a picture of the First Christian but couldn't find any. Well, it won't be long until picnic time, we get our little family together and go on picnics all summer. How do you folks spend the summer months? Ans. sometime. Mrs. Carl Taylor - Ethel."
