North side of the square, looking east, Salem, Indiana

This view of the north side of the square carries the eariest postmark in the Wayne Paper Box and Printing Corp. series -- Jan. 4, 1938. It is numbered E-595.

It was postmarked in Hoopeston, Ill. and addressed to Mr. Monroe Cauble, Salem, Ind. The message on the back reads, "reached home Sund eveng about 5.30 OK. everybody & everything OK. having fine weather. going to butcher in morng. wish you were here. ground is frozen & silver shining. Cara."

Note that the State Bank of Salem building has replaced the Sinclair Residence Flats at the extreme right of the picture.
