This McClintock card is the same view of the court house used on the Curt Teich series. Numbered 2579, it was published by the Dexter Press, Pearl River, N.Y. The card was mailed, but the postmark date is off the edge of the card. The handwritten date says only, "Sat. night." It is addressed to Leslie B. Allen, F 2/c, co. 24E, Sec. B, Room 473, Iowa State College, U.S.N.T.S., Ames, Iowa. The message reads:
Dear Leslie,
While Patty is eating a cone I will drop you this card from Neal's.
How do you like the card?
I couldn't find time to write a letter. Will write you a long letter tomorrow. Didn't get any mail today. Hope you are O.K.
Must close and get on with my shopping.
Love,
Milly
The reference to Neal's would place the writing of the card in Salem, but the fragmentary postmark seems to come from a city ending in "LOH" in a state ending in "O". (And the date may be a month ending in "M", which only goes to show that you can push the interpretation of bad rubberstamps beyond all reason.)
