The card was postmarked at 2 p.m., Aug. 1, 1947, addressed to Mr. & Mrs. Odia Meyers, Harrision St., Salem, Indiana. The message reads, "Brownstown, Ind. July 31, 1947. Dear folks, We didn't take time to write to you last night as it was so late. We came back through Louisville at 11 p.m. and got here at 12 a.m. We came up Route 31. Bill hunted up 2 buddies going down & a cousin coming back. We didn't have any trouble at all. We are going to Clearspring tomorrow. Lola Was sick at her stomach today, so think we will sleep here so we can get to bed early. Hope everyone there is alright. Folks went home. They left at 5. Marie." (6/26/05) |
