First Baptist Church, Salem, Indiana

The photograph is too narrow to fill the frame of the card, so the extra space on the right and left edges is filled with bands of benday screen. The sign on the house at the extreme right of the picture says "Rooms to Rent" -- an activity that continued into the 1950s, when the house was owned by Dr. Ed Rhetts. The card was postmarked 4 p.m., Nov. 13, 1951, and sent by the patron saint of Salem postcards, Mrs. Blanch Packwood, from Campbellsburg, Indiana, to Laporte, Indiana, in a card club swap. (4/16/00) |
