High School, Salem, Indiana
|
This view of the high school is interesting because of the luxuriant hedge that borders the sidwalk. Earlier photographs of the school don't show any hedge or plantings. The McClintock's Drug Store and Ft. Wayne Paper Box views which I'd date to a decade later than this photograph likewise don't show any sign of a hedge. But the Boyd Smedley photograph from 1951 does seem to show some remnants of a hedge, as well as some brick entry pillars that were probably a class gift. Hmmmm. This copy of the card is unused. Another copy auctioned on eBay in September 2006 was dated august 15 and postmarked from Salem on August 16, 1926 (a Monday), addressed to Mrs. Addie Fertig, Ray, Kansas. (7/18/06, updated 9/16/06) |
