This view of the road through the Knobs is so featureless it's almost generic. There's nothing in it to connect it to the other cards in the Cosmos series -- no Neal's Soda Fountain sign, to be sure. The connection is probably that it was snapped by the same photographer who took the preceding view just a few minutes later, as he came down the Knobs headed north toward Brownstown. It's as featureless on the back as it is on the front -- never mailed, never scribbled on, it's clean except for the Cosmos newsboy logo. Until I find out when the road was paved and became Indiana 135 the best I can do for a date is the early to mid-1920s. (02/07/02) Home | The 1920s | Next card
