Salem-Washington Township High School, Salem, Indiana

This card is identical to the Tresslar high school card except that the publisher's credit that runs vertically up the left edge of the card back says "Pub. by B. H. Grimes Co., Frankfort, Ind." The printing plate is the same, right down to the trimmed lower edge and the globby defacement in the upper right. The paper stock is different, however -- it's a brighter white -- and the caption has been properly centered.

If we accept a 1911-1913 date for the first set of Grimes cards and an early '20s date for the Tresslar reprints, this reprint series could have been made anytime from the middle '20s. It is postmarked from Salem on Sept. 18, 1930, and addressed to Miss Genevie Ferris, Lyons, Michigan. The message reads, "In Salem to-day hope to be home Sunday. Am having fine time & seeing fine country. Esther." (9/6/02)
