Fredericksburg may have been a hamlet, but there was a time when every hamlet had its own musical groups, and usually more than one -- concert bands, mandolin and banjo orchestras, ukulele societies. This is another "real photo" card (see the Beck's Mill Road card and the the 1909 flood scene. This card was never mailed, so there's no postmark, but it has the same Azo back as the Salem Centennial cards, so it can be dated to the same period -- between 1904 and 1918.
The X-marks are ambiguous. On the back is written "I marked Maurice," but on the front there are Xs on two young cornet players. Are they both Maurice? (4/20/01)
