Another in the series of "real photo" cards that begin the catalog of this decade, this card shows a view of the Christian Church that appears to have been taken by an amateur photographer on a less-than-perfect winter day. (See the North Main Street view for a few words on the quality of real-photo cards.) The appearance of the church and the fences and telephone poles in the foreground, and the trees and bushes, are close to those of the views of the same church in the Red Back and Weixelbaum series and its postmark of April 14, 1911, supports the dating of those cards.
The card was addressed to Mr. Roy L. Brown [perhaps "Jr."] in Bellefontaine, Ohio. The message is in a mixture of English and Italian or perhaps Romany, and wanders around the back of the card: "Salem, Ind., 14-4-11. Caris me Fratello Roy. Come stai? How are you? I would like to know from you. Tanti cari[?] saluto at te e la tua famiglia. addio. addio. Tuo fratello amico Silvio. Salem 68 addio RLB." (8/17/04)
