Notice the sky in this alternate version of the Red Back series view of the high school: The clouds have been added in the process of making the printing plate for the blue tint of the sky. I don't know which version of the card came first. The postmark on this card is nearly illegible, but it appears to be June 23, 1915. The cards in the Red Back series that were mailed all have postmarks of 1909, 1910, or 1911 -- considerably earlier. Finally, consider the back design:

The "Post Card" in an orangey-yellow ink is in caps and lowercase, considerably different from the all-caps, very red text on the other Red Backs.

Bottom line: this card represents a second printing of the view. Whether that means there was a second printing of more cards or all of the set -- a "Yellow Back" set -- I don't know.

This card was addressed to Master Laurel Clayton, 817 Hunter Ave., Bloomington, Indiana. The message reads, "Dear Laurel :- You were in bed when I left & I didn't get to tell you good bye. So I will now. Tell your mother that I'll write to her soon if I can possibly get time. Having a fine time. Lois." (7/25/04)
