This card is an interesting historical document. The view is the same one used for the "Lyon High School"card in the "Red Back" series. This card, however, was specially printed as an invitation to the dedication ceremonies held, as the caption notes, in Lyon Hall, Friday, Nov. 27, 1908, at 10 a.m. The back of the card puts the program for the event into the message space. This card was mailed from salem on Nov. 23, 1908, the Monday previous to the dedication, to Mrs. Nora T. Ganse, Russiaville, Ind., and the sender wrote on the front, "Nov. 23rd, '08 -- Cousin Stella." (3/27/02) |
