Another Art Mfg. Co. card that duplicates a C. U. Williams Photoette card, this is numbered 717. (The "1783" in the caption is perhaps a negative number assigned by Williams and mistakenly carried over -- see the next card.) The card is postmarked from Salem at 5 p.m. on August 28, 1908, and addressed in ink to Miss Norah Shauck, Arlington, Indiana. The message is one of restrained courtship: "Dear Miss Shauck: How are you? I am all right. Went to the institute last week. had a good time. Suppose you went. I would like to see you all again. I miss you on Fri. night most. How is Mr. Brown ha! ha! (said the cat)? Would be glad to hear from you soon, as ever, Ava Carter [or perhaps 'Carler']." (6/14/01)
