This is another of the street views published by C. U. Williams, Photoette Bloomington, Ill. It is numbered 365 in the caption line. This card was postmarked from Salem at 5 p.m. December 23, 1908, from Mattie (but perhaps a different Mattie -- the handwriting is different from the previous card) to Mrs. India R. Carr, 2824 Pitt St., Anderson, Ind. It reads, "Dear Sister, What are you doing? we butchered yesterday, will finish by tomorrow. all well. Wish you a merry Christmas with love, Mattie."
It's hard to judge where the photograph was taken from. Very little of the houses along Market Street are visible to provide a location. The white building with dark shutters at the extreme right of the picture might be what was later Dr. Baker's chiropractic office. (4/4/01)
