Library, Salem, Indiana

This view of the library in this series was also used for a card in the "Blue Sky" series and the C. U. Williams Brownette series. This is the card that makes the link between the real-photo series and the C. U. Williams series. It has an AZO back that carries a publisher's cred vertically up the left-hand edge:
The card was mailed from Salem, postmarked at 5 p.m. on a day in February (probably the 5th) of 1909. It is addressed to Miss Tillie M. King, Orleans, Ind. The message reads, "Rec'd handkerchief alright, missed it when I got home. Had just written you and when I looked at address & seen who it was from I thought there was surely something the matter, frightened me for a minute for I knew you would not answer so soon. It has been raining most of the day -- Now wind is raising imagine we will have some more bad weather. Been trying to clean some today. Going to Cincinnati first of week after next. With love, Elizabeth." (6/2/04) |
