The station's call letters were obviously chosen for their representation of "W-Salem," but the winning entry in a contest conducted not long after the station went on the air tagged WSLM as an acronym for "We Spin Lively Music." This card was published by the Aurora Postcard Co., Aurora, Missouri, numbered 10,757A.
